Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG - 2021 - Zeni

This strong Amarone comes from the hill country in the north of Verona. It thrives on red and brown soils with limestone marl and basalt, which are excellent heat stores. The grapes are picked selectively by hand, only the best grapes from the hilltop vineyards are laid out to dry in plateaux boxes. This increases the sugar, extract and flavor concentration in the dried berries. The grapes are dried for 2 to 3 months and the subsequent traditional fermentation with maceration in contact with the skins for 15 to 20 days. The young wine matures in oak barrels for 2 to 3 years until bottling.

In the glass, the Amarone from Zeni is deep ruby ??red, the fragrance is intense, fruity, with notes of cooked ripe fruits and balsamic spices. Soft and full on the palate, with a long finish. Serving suggestion: A wine that can be drunk from the third year after bottling, but can also be stored for a few years. It is best to uncork the bottle half an hour before serving.
